It all began when I got married- four years ago. I started trying to lose weight, but it was the first time living away from home. There were so many temptations. I didn’t know how to handle being able to go out & eat whatever I wanted. I wasn’t sure how to go about losing weight. I did some cardio, because I thought that was what I needed to do.
About a year later when nothing was working, I started dabbling with the machine weights. I cleaned up my diet a little, even lost fifteen lbs. Then I got pregnant with my first daughter. I canceled my gym membership because I didn’t think you could workout when you were pregnant. The day before I gave birth I weighed 225 (I’m 5’9) after I had her, I really began trying to lose weight. & I did, I got down to 130. However, I did it with lots of cardio & eating about 1200 calories a day, which is not enough. I lost most of my muscle, & had absolutely no butt. I did began to eat a more balanced diet about 10 months later, & then I fell pregnant with my second.
During this pregnancy is where everything changed. I used my metabolism to my advantage & got up to eating around 2000 something calories a day. I even began lifting. I fell in love with it. After I had my second daughter I was about 170. I am currently 8 months postpartum & weigh about 145-150 right now. I love my body more now than I did when I weighed 130 & was barely eating. Now I eat about 1600-2000 calories depending on my goals. I am currently trying to shed some lbs but I do not want to go under 135.
I love my body because I built it, with weights. I barely do cardio & if I do it it’s because I want to do it. This lifestyle has been the best decision I’ve made (besides my husband & kids). If I can go from having no clue what to do to lose weight to being pretty proficient in weightlifting, then you can do it too, believe me. I’ve been there, & there is a way out from the weight loss cycle. You just have to want it bad enough.
