My Weight Loss Journey Started At age 14, When my Doctor Informed me that I was 208 pounds and was considered Obese.I knew I had to do something, But what? I asked if there was any type of prescription I could take to lose some weight, There wasn’t for someone my age. The doctor told me I needed to lose about 50 pounds to be at a healthy Weight for my height (5’7) and that I should start eating Healthier.
I started High School That year, I was still thinking about needing to lose weight but I didn’t know where to start. The first think I remember doing was I told my mom we needed to eat less junk. so slowly I starter eating less take out and processed Food, Not really eating healthy food but Less of the Junk.By The end of freshman year I had lost about 25 pounds just from cutting down on my calorie intake (I used to eat about 2500 and cut down to about 1500).
That summer I felt alot better about myself and wanted to continue losing weight. I started cutting down on my soda intake and Made a goal to completely stop drinking it by the time School started again . I made more of an effort to get outside, I really liked walking and since it was summer I had plenty of friends to keep me outside and busy. When that Summer ended I was excited to go back to school to see if anyone noticed that I had changed. I achieved my goal to stop drinking soda and my walking was really helping me shed the pounds. I would guess I was eating any where from 1500-1800 calories and walking 2-3 miles a day though out the entire summer. At this time I was still eating Processed food but not so much take out and more fruit.
Sophomore year Starter and I was 167 pounds, I had managed to lose about 20 pounds during the 3 months of summer and I was feeling really positive about myself. The boys were talking to me now and I had a large number of friends who started noticing the changes in my body from weight loss. I didn’t really workout other than walking and maybe some swimming but my diet change was enough for me to start losing weight. I kept up there eating/active habits though out the whole school year and managed to pass the required test to graduate early.
After High school, I moved and also got really interested in eating better and working out. I started noticing Tv infomercials about working out and seeing before and afters photos of people just like me. So I looked up some healthy foods and basic exercises which was just in time because soon after converting to a healthy lifestyle I found out I was pregnant. I was excited for this new stage in my life and was determined to have a healthy pregnancy. I mainly ate things like Eggs, turkey, spinage, veggies, fruits and lots of water. I lost 15 pounds in the first 3 months of my pregnancy but my OB said it was completely healthy. I only gained a total of 12 pounds in 9 months with my first son and knew I would continue my healthy lifestyle now that he was here. I managed to lose all the baby weight and then some in the first 4 months, I was down to 135 from exercising 3-4 times a week with wii fit and healthy eating and finally felt like my goals had been achieved. (Age 18)
When My son was 6 months old we moved again with my now husband, He also had a few pounds to lose but had no idea about healthy food and exercise. I was comfortable and happy but I had eased up on my healthy eating and activity’s since joining the “Live in Couple” life but was still at a healthy weight of 145#. After figuring out that we could live with each other and still be in love we decide we wanted to try for another baby. It didnt take long before the tests came up ++. we couldnt have been happier, I was already picturing cute baby bumps outfits and photos. I kinda thought that this pregnancy would be just like the last but awe was I wrong. I gain 50 pounds during this second pregnancy even though I was still active and eating healthy. I felt depressed and ugly when I gave birth at 187 pounds. I was desperate to get back to working out and stated way before my 6 week check, which I knew I shouldn’t have, I had the baby blues for almost 5 months after Niko was born. It was very hard to fake being happy and wanting to lose weight as fast as possible but once my hormones even out and I got back to a clean diet and exercising regularly the weight started coming off.
So Here it is 2014! 6 months after giving and Its Jan 1st and Im telling myself that I will lose the remaining 40 pounds of baby weight and get back to my goal of 135# . I started doing T25 training, Yoga, And Weight lifting. 3 months passed and I was at 157#. Then I started cutting out food containing Gmo and cut down on red meat, kept up my training and added some Running and Biking. Another 3 months passed, now im down to 145. I know what Im doing is working, 5-6 days a week doing interval training, never the same thing each day, Eating clean 80% and Indulging 20%, If I want chocolate, I eat it, if I want a burger I have it, But Im not going to McDonald for it,.I’ll cook it myself with Lean burger with some organic spring mix topped with natural cheddar and Fresh onions and mushrooms because I know its going to taste better and Im not going to feel like shit after I eat it.
Its been 8 months and 6 days(As of Aug,8,14) since I made my resolutions to get healthy and fit, I was 178 pounds when I Made that commitment and in a size 12-13 pants(u.s), Im now very Happy to say that I weigh 135 pounds and am in a size 3-5 Pants (u.s). This Journey Has been amazing and hard and more worth it than anything else I have ever done in my life. I feel like I’m a person again, not just a women hiding behind 5 layers of shirts, self hate and depression. It didnt happen all at once and If I would have given up when I dint see results I would never be where I am today.
